San Francisco Board of Supervisors Approves Resolution Recognizing America's First Suffrage March, Co-Led by Glen Park Women!
In partnership with the Office of San Francisco Assessor-Recorder Carmen Chu (now San Francisco City Administrator) and her staff, the GPNHP is proud to announce that what we believe is America's first suffrage march was approved by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors on August 25, 2020! Read the approved resolution!
Glen Park resident Johanna Pinther played a major role in what we believe is the first march for women's suffrage in the United States in 1908. The Glen Park Neighborhoods History Project is the first to identify Johanna as a Glen Park resident, and apparently the first to describe this historic event in detail.
The GPNHP is proud to have been a Partner of the 2020 Women's Vote Centennial Task Force. The Task Force ended work on September 30, 2021. We remain a member of the National Women's History Alliance of organizations, committed to preserving women's histories. Learn More!
